My childhood in the San Fernando Valley was good. I had buck teeth but really nice friends.
Later, I went to Berkeley and studied English, which turned out to be a pretty cool language. I emerged aimless and ill-prepared for the working world. All signs pointed to advertising.
Writing about shower radios and disposable cameras looked like a true path. I took it and never looked back. Or forward, really, either.
I learned to make complex things simple. And dull things gripping. People now call this "storytelling." I call it "the reason there are copywriters."
Whatever you call it, it makes clients happy, and me too. I have been a copywriter for over 20 years, working on accounts like Sprint, Microsoft, PG&E and University of Phoenix. I've done tech, banking, fashion, booze. Print, brochures, websites, direct mail, banners, videos and TV. Lots and lots of stuff. Much to be proud of. The rest has been quietly discarded.
Take a look, and thanks for stopping by.
